Spring Semester Permits on Sale Starting Dec. 23

Spring Semester Permits on Sale Starting Dec. 23

Starting Friday, December 23, 2022, student spring semester (Spring 2023) parking permits will be available for purchase in your parking portal.

Student permits are $133 per semester. Daily and monthly permits are also available for purchase in your parking portal. If you purchased a fall/spring permit, your parking permit is valid until the end of the spring 2023 semester (May 12, 2023).

Those with any existing balance on their account will not be authorized to purchase a long or short term parking permit until their balance is paid in full.

Purchasing hourly and daily permits via ParkMobile or paying to park in metered areas is an option for patrons until their citation balance is paid.

As a reminder, any citation balance that is unpaid after 90 days may be sent to collections.

PayLock SmartBoots

In an effort to mitigate large balances, ParkUToledo will resume immobilizing vehicles (booting) with outstanding citation fees this November. A $105 immobilization citation will be issued to any vehicle that is booted.

“We want to make sure those that have received citations don’t compile a large amount of debt that feels unmanageable,” said Sherri Kaspar, executive director of ParkUToledo. “We want them to correct their behavior, not continue to violate the rules and regulations.”

ParkUToledo will utilize PayLock self-release SmartBoots making it easier for the booted party to release their vehicle on their own at any time. If you’re unable to release the boot on your own, ParkUToledo can assist you during regular business hours.

The offending vehicles will be immobilized with a lightweight SmartBoot. Once booted, you can contact PayLock to pay your outstanding citations online or over the phone 24/7/365. All boot removals require payment via credit/debit card to PayLock directly. A credit/debit card fee will be assessed by PayLock.

Once paid, PayLock will issue a code that will release the boot. After the boot is released, you will be responsible for returning the boot within 72 hours of removal. Boots must be returned to the ParkUToledo offices between 8:30am – 5pm, Monday through Friday.

If the SmartBoot is not returned to the ParkUToledo offices, you will be charged $50 per day (beginning 72 hours from boot release) for eight days (for a total of $400), a charge of $600 will be issued thereafter, for a total fee of $1,000 (for a lost/stolen boot). A $400 fee will be assessed to you if the SmartBoot is damaged but repairable, with a $1,000 fee charged if the boot is damaged beyond repair.

Per ParkUToledo’s Rules & Regulations, anyone with $200 or more in unpaid citations is subject to booting.

Added Improvements

ParkUToledo completed its final major renovation of 2022 when Area 48 reopened this October.

“We’ve committed over $3.8 million dollars in our capital improvements this year and are pleased to continue to add value to the UToledo campuses,” said Sherri Kaspar, executive director of ParkUToledo. “On top of the improvements to surface lots, we also added/replaced 413 total signs on both campuses.”
